Kata
With its powder-soft sand and shallow bay, Kata Beach on Phuket’s south-west coast attracts sun-lovers of all ages. Between November and April, the beach is thronged with swimmers, sunbathers and snorkellers enjoying the calm turquoise waters. The quieter months of May until October offer more wave action, turning Kata into a surfer’s haven. Kata Noi, literally ‘Little Kata’, is a pretty and quiet sandy bay just around the cape, south of Kata Beach. With its streets chock full of restaurants, resorts and shops, Kata is a bustling tourist town, yet it avoids the full-on-party-central reputation of its northern neighbour Patong Beach.
Hidden away on the headland separating Kata and Kata Noi beaches are some of Phuket’s most enchanting private holiday rentals. A short walk from the fine sand, these lofty retreats offer panoramic sea views and lavish tropical accommodation. Our luxury villas in Kata feature private swimming pools with superb sea and sunset views, and ample indoor and outdoor spaces for entertaining. Modern kitchens and dining rooms, jacuzzis, barbecue stations and comfortable media rooms are among the many villa features you can expect to find. Bedrooms tend to be privately spaced across different levels, and include elaborate master suites offering fine views.
Our Kata luxury villas are perfect for families and multi-generational groups, guaranteeing warm, Thai-style hospitality. A team of staff, including a Villa Manager, will ensure that your holiday runs smoothly from start to finish, and those looking to sample authentic fare can enjoy Thai delicacies in their own holiday home, prepared by a private chef. Special events, soothing massages, chauffeur-driven day trips around the island, boat charters and golf days can all be organised by the Elite Concierge.
Tucked away within peaceful hillside estates, our villas in Kata are within a short distance of some of Phuket’s best dining spots including Mom Tri’s Kitchen with its award-winning wine cellar. Kata’s nightlife is more sedate than Patong’s, ideal for the elite traveller looking to have a good time with friends at casual cocktail bars. Kata is also home to Phuket’s only flowboarding venue, the beachfront Surf House, as well as several yoga and fitness centres and spas. For the kids, Dino Park mini-golf is a fun place to visit, especially in the evening when the model volcano ‘erupts’ in a flash of red lights.
Kata is a popular place for yachts to moor, especially when it plays host to the King’s Cup Regatta and the Superyacht Rendezvous held each year on the island. Yachts are also the best way to explore the magnificent Phang Nga Bay just off the island’s east coast. The nearby Similan and Raya islands beckon day trippers with fine sand beaches and colourful snorkelling sites.
Phuket’s southern end is lined with several lovely beaches such as Karon Beach just north of Kata, with its long stretch of flour-soft sand, and the chilled-out Nai Harn Beach. A drive down the road connecting the beaches helps you discover spectacular viewpoints including Cape Promthep and the hilltop Big Buddha, delicious open-air Thai seafood restaurants such as those lining Rawai Beach, and lush interior landscapes where elephants roam.
With two of Phuket’s top beaches within close range, villas in Kata are ideal holiday homes for sun-seekers who appreciate inspiring sea views and fine hospitality, while remaining close to the action.
